How are we already at the end of August!! I already know I'm going to miss the lighter evenings, I really don't like the enforced daylight diet we all go on.
This week I thought I would do my monthly favourites sharing everything I have been loving in August. I plan to do my monthly favourites the last Sunday of every month so keep your eyes peeled for the next one at the end of September.
Here we go....
I've always been a fan of an espadrille but these take it to a whole new level. Made from the softest Nappa leather, Drilles are fully leather lined and fitted with a soft cushioned insole so they are so comfortable. Each shoe is handmade in Spain and finished with a custom-made rubber sole, protecting the traditional jute from damp and dirt - a pair of Drilles is far from being a one season wonder so whilst they are a bit pricey, they make a great investment. I have them in pink and have been wearing them all the time I might just have to buy another colour!
Up until his month, I had only done yoga a handful of times. My friend told me about a new studio that had opened near home so I took a look. They are running a great intro offer (£45 for 30 days unlimited yoga) so I thought I would give it a go. Life has been pretty stressful recently and the combination of stretching, strength & mindfulness is just perfect for me at the moment. I've been amazed at how hot & sweaty I get doing it so I must be working hard! I think it always helps to have a good teacher and Sophie Dear has been amazing which has kept me going back! Namaste.
I love to be outside. I'm much happier walking or running by the river on in a park than I am in a sweaty gym. I discovered these Adidas Ultra Boost trainers a couple of months ago and they are now a firm favourite. They are so simple to put on there's no need to undo the laces which is a real plus. The actual shoe is super stretchy so it just slips on but once it's on, don't worry, it's definitely not going anywhere. I have a really high instep and find these super supportive and really lightweight too. Just one watch out, if it runs you will get wet feet!
I'm really enjoying 7/8th length jeans like these. They are not properly cropped but they finish at the ankle which is perfect for this time of year. Shown here with trainers they look good with smart shoes & heels too and definitely work well with my Drilles! The paint splattered effect adds a bit of a twist without the scruffiness that ripped jeans often have. These are a mid-rise True Skinny fit and I took my usual size and even better they are currently in the sale at £24.99 so grab a bargain.
I've really been enjoying BBC's Trust Me: In case you have missed it here's a plot summary: Having lost her job for whistle-blowing, a skilled, hardworking nurse assumes her best friend's identity as a senior doctor to start a new life in Edinburgh and stars Jodie Whittaker. It concludes on Tuesday so you've still got time to watch it on iPlayer before the finale. Sunday sorted.
Like a lot of people, I gave in to the hype and bought the NAKED Heat Palette. There is a good mix of matt & shimmer shadows and they're really pigmented. I think they suit blue/green eyes particularly well.
Finally, I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since I started this blog - time flies when you're having fun! I'm really enjoying the creativity and it's really very therapeutic. I've dug out my old camera and have been enjoying toking photos, learning the impact of good lighting and generally sharing things I find interesting.
It's exciting when I see you liking it too so please continue to engage with me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter as it really makes me smile. If you feel like sharing my content with your friends that would truly make my day!
So that's it for my first monthly favourites, I hope you enjoyed reading and might even try some of them out. I would love to hear from you if you have favourites I should try so do get in touch.
Thanks for reading. Until next Sunday....
