Glossier - worth the hype?
If you're as much of a beauty addict as me, you might have already seen lots of reviews about Glossier but I thought why not add mine to the mix too. If Glossier is new to you, you're in for a treat.
Glowy, dewy skin is Glossier's thing which is right up my street. I love a fresh, dewy, no-make-up-make-up look. I received my products last week and have been trying them out over the last few days so this is just a little bit more than a first impression review.

If Glossier is new to you, it is a brand that is distilled from years of recommendations from the coolest girls on the planet. Born out of the very successful blog IntoTheGloss, Glossier celebrates real girls, in real life.
I had seen so much about it from my fave bloggers that I couldn't wait to get my hands on it so when it finally launched in the UK on 9th October I placed an order. Judging on its current success, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it's available in other countries too!
Delivery is from a UK based warehouse so no worries about getting stung with import duties. Standard shipping is free when you spend £25 or over but if you just can't wait, they also offer express shipping for £6. And the packaging is just amazing!!! Their pink bubble wrap, zip-top pouches are as good a reason as any to give the products a try. Great for the organisation freak in me!
The key to great make-up is to start with the most important thing: perfectly primed skin.
If I could, I would have bought everything so I could give it all a try but my credit card would not have thanked me! I decided to mix my order up with a bit of skincare & a bit of make-up.
I've got into double cleansing recently and have definitely noticed the difference it makes so trying the Milky Jelly Cleanser was a given and I'd heard lots of good things about Balm Dotcom. I decided to go for the Phase 1 Set because for just an extra £10, I could also try out the Priming Moisturiser as well and save £8 versus buying the products individually.
Everyone raves about the cleanser and I do like it but don't love it. As the name suggests, it has a gel like consistency and I find it goes it very soothing. I have been using this in the morning when I do a single cleanse. I add a little water and massage it into my skin before removing it with a muslin cloth or soft flannel. It has a really handy pump top, so sometimes I just take it into the shower and apply and wash it off there! Finally, I moisturise and find my skin feels very soft so it's a great way to start the day. I think I will probably alternate between this and my Aurelia Miracle Cleanser in the mornings.
I've heard mixed reviews about the Priming Moisturiser; for me, I found it gave me a great base for make up without being too greasy. I have combination skin and definitely have areas that can be oilier so I found this moisturiser brilliant as it's not too heavy. In the morning, I still use my Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser but add this moisturiser just before applying my make-up.
The last thing I have been trying in the skincare range is Balm Dotcom. It's great for any part of the body that needs extra moisture, especially lips, cuticles, and rough patches as it's super soothing & conditioning. I have been switching between using this and the Bobbi Brown Lip Balm before applying any lip colour. I love both products - one is in a tube the other a pot so it just depends what is closest to hand but I find the Bobbi Brown pot easier to chuck in my handbag.
If I'm honest, I already have far too much make-up but I'm a sucker for something new. I really suffer with dark circles under my eyes so I use concealer all the time. To try and make sure it lasts all day, I know I need to set it with powder. I have been using the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Flawless Powder but sometimes I can't really tell if it's actually going on! It's a pressed powder so I decided I wanted to try a loose powder to see if that makes any difference.
Glossier's Wowder is a nice product, very light but I definitely know I'm applying it. It cuts shine, sets makeup, and blurs the appearance of pores and the brush that comes in the Duo Set will be really handy for travelling as it comes in its very own little zip-top pouch. My one criticism is the packaging; from the outside, it looks lovely but inside it's a bit annoying. The powder is underneath a piece of mesh which should stop the product going everywhere, but, I find when I tap my brush on it I end up with far too much product, no matter how lightly I dab!
I love a bit of bronzer & blusher as it just lifts my face so the Cloud Paints were a must for me. I love the packaging, it's just so cute, and will be really handy chucked in my handbag for when a touch up if needed. I opted for the Cloud Paint Duo (you can choose 2 colours for £25 and £5) in Dusk & Haze. The formula is a cross between a cream & a gel. I find Dusk gives a healthy, flushed glow, similar to what I can achieve with bronzer although I still use bronzer as well!! The best way to apply is with your fingertips but, be careful when you squeeze the tube, a little goes a long way. I kind of want to try the other colours now too. So far, I think this might be my favourite Glossier product!
I just couldn't resist the Glossier Sweatshirt. Having seen one of my favourite bloggers, Anna from The Anna Edit, wearing hers, I just couldn't resist buying a one for myself. They were originally made these for team Glossier (apparently their offices can get pretty chilly) but then everyone started asking for them so they made more.
It's a classic crewneck sweatshirt with raglan sleeves and super soft fleece inside, giving it a real lived in feeling from day one. I know £50 for a sweatshirt is a bit steep, but I'm a sucker for a slogan jumper and I've worn it loads already. I ordered it in a large as I wanted it to be cosy loungewear to mainly be worn in the house although I have to admit, I did wear it out when I went to get me nails done and it still felt good! Sadly, I have noticed it bobbles quite a bit which is annoying but I still love it anyway!
What would I buy again?
What do I still want to try?
I hate to admit it, but I'm firmly on the Glossier band wagon and can't wait to try some more of their products. I think it is worth the hype! If you fancy giving anything a go, don't forget to bag 10% off your first order
I hope you enjoyed reading and might have found a product or two that takes your fancy. I would love to hear from you if you do buy anything or if you have a brand I should try, so do get in touch.
Thanks for reading. Until next Sunday....
