Morning Skincare Routine
I'm sure like me, the mornings are a time when you want to get ready as quickly as possible and there's not time for a complicated skincare routine and generally faffing around! But, we all know how important our skin is so finding a balance between doing the right thing and just getting it done as quickly as possible can be a challenge.
My morning skincare routine is quick and easy and provides a great base for makeup. As I've begun wearing foundation over the last year I've learnt the importance of getting your skin right before applying bake up. The foundation under foundation is super important!!
I've been reading so much about the importance of double cleansing that I decided to look into it more and realised perhaps I was not cleansing my skin enough. Suddenly, it all made sense. I had noticed my skin seemed more clogged and I was getting breakouts that I don't usually get so maybe is the answer. I have now started to double cleanse in the evening and will share the new products I'm trying out soon - I've been doing it for a week and so far, so good.
You would have seen in my evening skincare routine how much I love the Aurelia products. I really look for organic or natural products wherever I can as I find they suit my sensitive skin better. The Aurelia Miracle Cleanser (£38, 120ml) is brilliant & feels almost like a moisturiser when applied. If I'm not showering in the morning, I apply it to dry skin and then wash it off using a muslin cloth and warm water (or cold water if I feel I need waking up more!). But most mornings I'm jumping in the shower so I apply it to my skin just before and then wash it off in the shower. I just find it quicker and easier!
As featured in my evening skincare routine, I use Garnier Micellar Water (£4.99, 400ml) in the morning after cleansing just in case I missed washing anything off and before applying my moisturiser. Apparently, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water contains micelles which act like magnets, gently lifting away make-up and impurities from the skin, without the need to rub or rinse. Can't do much better than that.
As you can probably see, I am a big fan of the Aurelia. The products are made in Britain using the purest of BioOrganic ingredients sourced sustainably from around the world. They say, "we want our products to make a real difference to women by delivering glowing, balanced skin every day" and for me that's certainly what they do.
I first apply Aurelia Revitalise & Glow Serum (£57, 30ml) and a little goes a long way so I can justify the price somehow. I follow up with Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser (£52, 60ml) to really make sure my skin is super hydrated and ready for make-up.
Once a week I use the La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Clay Mask (£11, 100ml). Unlike some face masks, it's really easy to apply and goes on almost like a thick moisturiser. Clay masks are great for oily, spot or blackhead-prone skin and do a great job of removing that weekly commuting grime. Here's what the experts say and I couldn't put it any better myself!
Containing Argilla & Kaolin. Argilla gently absorbs sebum from the skin's surface without over-drying or causing micro-inflammation of the sebaceous glands. Kaolin helps to gently remove sebum from deep inside the skin - helping to mattify skin over time. This mask also contains 5% Panthenol B5 to soothe and calm the skin post sebum-extraction, reducing the risks of over-stimulating the sebum glands.
Lastly, the CellubeadsTM remove all impurities from the skin for an in-depth cleansing action. They have a magnet-like ability to absorb even the smallest and most invisible impurities in the skin, for example those caused by pollution.
That's it, super simple & quick which, if you're anything like me, is what is needed first thing in the morning!
